Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC)

Relatively new, Massive Open Online Courses quickly became one of the most discussed higher education innovation topics. To date, millions of students attend the courses designed by dozens of the world leading universities.

The panellists will talk about MOOC’s directions, perspectives, and role in the future of education.

The following points will be discussed:

  • To which degree the today’s popularity of MOOCs corresponds to their real place in the future of education, and which degree it is the result of advertising, marketing and fashion? Do MOOCs teach as good as regular universities?

  • Virtually all MOOC platforms collect lots of data about the process of learning. What conclusions can be made from the data collected already? How do the MOOCs change as the result of this data?
  • Will the virtual education replace schools and universities in the future? Or will educational institutions utilize the opportunities of MOOC to improve the quality and effectiveness of education?
  • How the MOOCs in their current form, use the opportunities provided by technology? Will MOOCs remain in form of ordinary courses transferred to online courses, or evolve into something completely new?
